A RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS, the
Resurfacing program; and
PRESENTED April 24, 2001
2001-55 ADOPTED April 24, 2001
AWARDING A STREET MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR
MIl.LING AND RESURFACING TO FRANCIS O. DAY CO.,
INC.
FY2001 Budget includes funding for a Street Milling and
WHEREAS, in response to a public solicitation for bids for this Street Maintenance
Contract, the town received bids on March 9, 2001 from the following firms:

· Francis O. Day Company, Inc.
· Virginia Paving Co.
· Superior Paving Corporation
$332,054.24
$362,923.10
$499,119.50
WHEREAS, this is a unit price contract and the total bid price is based on
quantifies included in the bid documents for bidding purposes only; and
WHEREAS, the bids were evaluated by the Capital Projects Engineer in
accordance with the bid documents and the town Purchasing Policy; and
WHEREAS, Francis O. Day Company, Inc. of Rockville, Maryland was
determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, the funds are available in the FY2001 Budget for resurfacing and
milling of streets; and

A RESOLUTION: AWARDING A STREET MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR
MILLING AND RESURFACING TO FRANCIS O. DAY CO.,
INC.
WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering and Public Works, and the Capital
Projects Manager recommend awarding a unit price contract to Francis O. Day Company,
Inc. for Street Milling and Resurfacing; and
WHEREAS, the contract for street milling and resurfacing will be for an initial
period of one (1) year and renewable for four (4) additional consecutive one (1) year
period.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is authorized to execute a renewable, unit price
contract with Francis O. Day Company, Inc. for street milling and resurfacing in
accordance with the bid documents and specifications, at the following unit prices:
· Milling per vertical inch
· 1.5" SM-9.5A surface course
· 1.5" SM-12.5D intermediate course
· BM-25.0 base course
$1.13/s.y.
$32.89/ton
$34.75/ton
$44.74/ton
SECTION II. Streets to be resurfaced shall be in accordance with the approved
FY2001 Street Resurfacing Plan.
