A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING
ORDINANCE TO REFERENCE TIlE LATEST FEMA FLOODPLAIN
MAPS IN THE F-1 AND FHD ZONING DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to continue participation in the National
Flood Insurance Program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
and
WHEREAS, FEMA has completed a new Flood Insurance Study and Flood Insurance Rate
Maps for the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, in order to comply with FEMA regulations, the F-1 Floodplain District and the
FHD Flood Hazard District regulations in the Zoning Ordinance must be revised to reference the
latest Flood Insurance Rate Maps for the Town; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed amendments.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The following amendments are hereby initiated and referred to the Planning
Commission for recommendation:
1. Amend Section 5C of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance to reference the latest
Flood Insurance Study and Flood Insurance Rate Maps for the Town of Leesburg.
2. Amend Section 740 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance to reference the latest
Flood Insurance Study and Flood Insurance Rate Maps for the Town of Leesburg ·
SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these

amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council
pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
