INITIATING A TOWN SPONSORED REZONING OF THE
"HAWKINS PROPERTY" DESCRIBED AS LCTM 48, PARCEL
79C FROM I-1 TO R-16
WHEREAS, the Hawkins property is currently zoned I-1 which would allow
offices, among other uses; and
WHEREAS, the Fox Chapel condominium development exists immediately
adjacent to this property; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the Hawkins property agrees that a residential use
similar to the Fox Chapel development would further the public's health, safety and
welfare; and
WHEREAS, in a letter dated April 10, 2001, from Michael A. Banzhaf on behalf
of Mr. R.C. Hawkins, the owner commits to proffer the Concept Plan dated April 5,
2001, prepared by the Engineering Groupe, Inc, and to assist with notice and public
heating requirements; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that council initiate the rezoning of the property
from I-1 to R-16; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning
practice require the proposed amendments.

"HAWKINS PROPERTY" DESCRIBED AS LCTM 48, PARCEL
79C FROM I-1 TO R-16
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
SECTION I. Staff is hereby authorized to process a Town Council initiated
rezoning application for the property described above.
SECTION II. The Planning Commission is hereby directed to review and
provide a recommendation to the Town Council concerning this rezoning application.
PASSED this 22nd day of May, 2001.
