A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING UP TO $10,000 IN FY 2002 ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR THE SAF-T-RIDE SHUTTLE BUS PILOT
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, a significant number of pedestrians cross the Route 15 Bypass between
Edwards Ferry Road and Fort Evans Road; and
WHEREAS, a no-cost shuttle service mn in a continuous loop from Fort Evans Road to
Edwards Ferry Road would provide a safe alternative to crossing the Route 15 Bypass on foot; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Transportation Association has proposed to operate such
a service as a pilot program from July through September, 2001 and will seek to secure future state
and federal funding to continue the program; and
WHEREAS, Loudoun County has provided matching funds in the sum of $10,000; and
WHEREAS, the police chief supports the establishment of this program~
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that up to
$10,000 in economic development funds is hereby authorized for the Saf-T-Ride Shuttle Bus Pilot
Progran~
