A RESOLUTION:
PRESENTED July 10, 2001

SETTING THE TOWN COUNCIL CAI.ENDAR
WHEREAS, the Town Council traditionally meets in formal session at 7:30 p.m.,
on the second and fourth Tuesday in each month and sits as a "committee of the whole"
convening at 7:00 p.m. on the Monday preceding the regular council meeting in the Council
Chambers, 25 West Market Street; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council traditionally cancels the last Council meetings in
August to observe summer vacation and the second meetings of December to observe the
Christmas holiday; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg will observe Columbus Day on October 8,
2001, Martin L. King, Jr. Birthday on January 21, 2002, and Memorial Day on May 27,
2002; and
WHEREAS, these holidays will conflict with the Council Work Sessions of
October 8, 2001, as well as January 21 and May 27, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Section 15.2-1416 of the Code of Virginia requires that Council set its
calendar at it first meeting in July.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The Town Council shall meet in formal session at 7:30 p.m., on the
second and fourth.Tuesday in each month and shall sit as a "committee of the whole"

convening at 7:00 p.m. on Monday preceding the regular council meeting in the Council
Chamber, 25 West Market Street or at such time and place as the council may determine
from time to time, except there shall be no meeting on Monday, August 27, 2001; Tuesday,
August 28, 2001; Monday, December 24, 2001; and Tuesday, December 25, 2001.
SECTION Il. The work session meeting on Monday, October 8, 2001 will be
rescheduled to Tuesday, October 9, 2001 and the formal session of October 9, 2001 will be
rescheduled to Wednesday, October 10, 2001; the work session meeting on Monday,
January 21, 2002 will be rescheduled to Tuesday, January 22, 2002 and the formal session
of January 22, 2002 will be rescheduled to Wednesday, January 23, 2002; the work session
meeting of Monday, May 27, 2002 will be rescheduled to Tuesday, May 28, 2002 and the
formal session of May 28, 2002 will be rescheduled to Wednesday, May 29, 2002.
