RECOMMENDING TO THE PLANNING
DIRECTING STAFF TO PLACE A HIGH
COMPLETION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE
ZONING ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, it is the intent and desire of Council to complete the comprehensive revision to
the Zoning Ordinance to incorporate the recommendations of the 1997 Town Plan in as expeditious
a manner as is practicable; and
WHEREAS, Council desires that the Draft Zoning Ordinance be brought forward through
the review process as a complete document, rather than by individual articles; and
WHEREAS, certain provisions of the Zoning Ordinance should be amended in advance of
the comprehensive revision to the Zoning Ordinance in order to better realize the intent of the 1997
Town Plan; and
WHEREAS, a revised schedule for the review of the Draft Zoning Ordinance is required to
inform the Council and the general public of the expected completion date of the comprehensive
revision; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed directives.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. Staff is hereby directed and the Planning Commission is requested to give a
high priority to the completion of the comprehensive revision to the Draft Zoning Ordinance.
SECTION 1I. Staff is hereby directed to present a detailed schedule and work plan for the
completion of the Draft Zoning Ordinance at the September 10, 2001 Work Session.

DRAFT ZONING ORDINANCE
SECTION llI. Staff is hereby directed to present a resolution at the September 11, 2001
regular meeting for the initiation of various Zoning Ordinance text amendments to occur in
advance of adoption of the comprehensive revision of the Zoning Ordinance.
