Health and Human Services Committee
Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 7:00 PM
Present: George Pettengill, Jean Sears, Doris Franzago, Pat Mageean, Liz Jayes and Deborah
Blackman Jacobs.
The meeting was called to order at 7 PM by chairman, George Pettengill. The minutes of the
last meeting were accepted as presented.
George called for election of officers. He agreed to run for chairperson, Jean Sears and Bill
Mageen will be co-chairpersons and Doris Franzago ran for secretary. They were elected
unanimously.
George reported on town Meeting and said our recommendations had been accepted as
presented. The application form was discussed and no changes or additions seemed
necessary.
Requests for Contract Funding from 2004 to 2009 were reviewed.
We recommend: Aids Support Group of CC receive the requested sum of $2,500.
capeAbilities receive the requested sum of $6,425.
CC Child Development receive the requested sum of $5,020.
Consumers Assistance Council receive the requested sum of $500.
Elder Services of CC receive the requested sum of $7500.
Gosnold, Inc. receive $9,000, an increase of $500.
Independence House receive $4200, an increase of $200.
Interfaith Council Homeless receive $5,502, an increase of $718.
Sight Loss Services, Inc. receive $900, an increase of $50.
So. Coastal Counties Legal receive $4,200, an increase of $100.
Lower Cape Outreach Council receive $7,300, an increase of $300.
We received a request for $5,000 from Big Brothers Big Sisters of CC and Islands. Since
this is a new organization making a sizable request, we will need to speak with a
representative from the organization and get further information. George will arrange this for
our next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8 PM.
