RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL TO CHANGE SPEED LIMIT FROM 35 MPH TO 45
MPH ON IRELAND AVENUE FROM 340TH STREET TO SOUTH OF THE CLEAR
CREEK BRIDGE ON IRELAND AVENUE WITHIN CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF
THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA
WHEREAS: on the 11th day of November, 2009, the City Council in regular session approved
the changing of the posted speed limit on Ireland Avenue from 35 mph to 45 mph upon the
report from Engineer Frederick on the Site Distance Study.
WHEREAS: Engineer Frederick conducted such requested study and detailed written report to
attention of City Council and Mayor.
WHEREAS: The City Council of Tiffin may be find it necessary to re -address the issue of the
speed limit on Ireland Avenue as development may progress for future needs.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY The City of Tiffin, Iowa, that the current said study
may suggest that speed limit may safely be raised to 45 MPH on Ireland Avenue from south of
Clear Creek Bridge southerly to 340th St. in both directions.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa to authorize the Mayor and
City Clerk'to sign all necessary documents, as required and necessary to direct Public Works to
install new signage and to inform all government agencies and parties as necessary.

CREEK BRIDGE ON IRELAND AVENUE WITHIN CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE
CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA was introduced by Councilperson Mike Gericke and made motion for
approval. Motion seconded by Councilperson Jim Bartels.
AYES:Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mike Gericke, Travis Weipert
NAY: None
ABSENT: Mark Petersen
With: Four Council members present and voted for approval, Mayor Phillips now declares
Resolution 2009-51 passed and approved this 21st day of December 2009.
