TOWN OF BREWSTER
BREWSTER HISTORICAL COMMISSION
September 11, 2007
Meeting Minutes
The meeting began at 4:10 PM in Room A at Town Hall with members Sue
Carr (chair), Roy Robinson and Ellen St. Sure in attendance.
1) Minutes of the August 8th meeting unanimously approved.
2) We discussed the summary of the Demolition Delay by-law Sue had
prepared and so many questions arose--particularly concerning the fact that the
Delay by-law, as written, would cover alterations as well as demolitions--that we
decided it would be best to withdraw, for the time being, the proposed by-law from
consideration by town meeting.
Vote to withdraw the Demolition Delay by-law from further consideration,
for the present: 3-0-0
3) We discussed a possible addition to the "Critera for evaluation of Historic
Significance"--the guidelines for consideration of grant requests which we had
previously approved on 7/24/07.
Sue suggested the addition of a phrase to Item 2d which describes the range
of anthropologically significant features we might consider, but after considerable
discussion it was agreed that we would not add the phrase at this time.
Since we had never voted to accept Sue's suggestion, a vote to reject it was
probably unnecessary, but nevertheless we did so vote.
Vote to withdraw suggestion for an alteration of the Criteria for evaluation of
Historic Significance: 3-0-0.
Next meeting of the BHC: Tuesday, October°~@ 4:00 PM Rm A Town Hall.
