SUPPORTING THE MAIN STREET LOUDOUN PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council supports enhancing Leesburg's position as
Loudoun County's historic, tourist, conference, and commercial center; and
WHEREAS, the Town Plan encourages preservation in the Historic District and
surrounding immediate area; and
WHEREAS, staff from Loudoun County, Leesburg and other Loudoun communities
traveled to the National Town Meeting held in April 2001 to learn about Main Street and meet
with Main Street communities; and
WHEREAS, the Main Street Loudoun Steering Committee, which includes Leesburg has
agreed that Loudoun towns' economic development and historic preservation is important; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun Town's Exploratory Team has met frequently during the past
six months to discuss and create an umbrella program that addresses the economic development
and preservation activities of the towns, villages, and central business districts in Loudoun
County; and
WHEREAS, the volunteer base of Leesburg's committees, commissions and associations
are willing to represent Leesburg's best interest to the Main Street Loudoun Program.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Leesburg Town Council agrees in concept with
Main Street Loudoun, and

SUPPORTING THE MAIN STREET LOUDOUN PROGRAM
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Leesburg Town Council would entertain
participation, by its Downtown Consultant as the components of Main Street Loudoun develop
further.
