A RESOLUTION: 2002-60 PRESENTED April 23, 2002 ADOPTED April 23, 2002 REQUESTING THAT LEESBURG AREA TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS BE ELIGIBLE FOR BOND FUNDING RESULTING FROM THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA SALES TAX REFERENDUM ON NOVEMBER 5, 2002 WHEREAS, on April 17, 2002, the General Assembly approved the half-cent sales tax referendum to benefit transportation in Northern Virginia; and WHEREAS, Northern Virginia residents will vote November 6, 2002 on whether to raise the 4.5 percent sales tax by a half cent; and WHEREAS, the referendum will include $100,000,000 in improvements for Route 7 in Loudoun County; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to communicate its priority projects for Route 7 to the elected officials and transportation officials of the Commonwealth and Loudoun County. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Council requests that the following Leesburg area projects be eligible for bond funding resulting from the Northern Virginia sales tax referendum on November 5, 2002: 1. Route 7/15 Bypass Widening Project, which includes: a. Completion of the interchange at Route 15, b. Widening of the Bypass from four to six lanes, c. Flyover at Sycolin Road, and d. Connection of Battlefield Parkway between Sycolin Road and Route 7 2. Route 7 Interchange Improvements at Battlefield Parkway 3. Route 7 Interchange Improvements at River Creek Parkway 4. Route 7 Interchange Improvements at White Gate 2 A RESOLUTION:REQUESTING THAT LEESBURG AREA TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS BE ELIGIBLE FOR BOND FUNDING RESULTING FROM THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA SALES TAX REFERENDUM ON NOVEMBER 5, 2002 SECTION II. The Council directs the Town Manager to communicate this resolution to the elected officials and transportation officials of the Commonwealth and Loudoun County. PASSED this 23ra day of April 2002.
