A RESOLUTION:
NAMING TWO TREES AT THOMAS BALCH LIBRARY IN
MEMORY OF SUSAN B. FARMER FOR HER PUBLIC SERVICE TO
THE TOWN OF LEESBURG AND THE COUNTY OF LOUDOUN
WHEREAS, on November 14, 2001, the Town Council adopted a resolution of respect
for Susan B. Farmer stating that a tree would be planted in her memory; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Farmer served the Town of Leesburg and the County of Loudoun with
distinction; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Farmer was involved with the events associated with the
groundbreaking of the library, served on the fundraising committee for the 75th anniversary, and
promoted the library through town publications and advertisements. In addition, Ms. Farmer was
an avid researcher of Loudoun County history at the library; and
WHEREAS, the staff and the Thomas Balch Library Commission endorsed the idea of
naming the two trees in memory of Ms. Farmer.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that two
trees, to be planted at Thomas Balch Library, shall be named in memory of Susan B. Farmer; one
for her town service and one for her county service.
PASSED this 25th day of June, 2002.
