A RESOLUTION:
AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,246,000.00
WITH VSI GROUP FOR INSTAI J.ATION OF AN AUTOMATED
WATER METER READING SYSTEM
WHEREAS, a need exists for upgrade and replacement or the town's aging water metering
system; and
WHEREAS, a selection committee comprised of employees of the Finance and Utilities
departments solicited and reviewed proposals and unanimously selected VSI Group from
Columbia, MD, teamed with Badger Meter and Hexagram Inc., to accomplish the water system
meter upgrades; and
WHEREAS, selection of the Hexagram "Star" system will improve customer service,
providing greater reading accuracy, more frequent readings, and faster customer complaint response
through use of a fixed based radio read system; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Director of Utilities recommends award of a unit
cost contract with VSI Group, in the amount of $2,246,000.00.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The Town Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement with VSI
Group, in a form approved by the town attorney, for installation of a fixed based water meter
reading system in the amount of $2,246,000.00.
