Airport Advisory Committee
Monthly Meeting Minutes
February 3, 2011
1. Open: The meeting was opened at 12:05 p.m. by Chairman, Walt Lee. In
attendance were John Anderson, Airport Manager, and Rik Poston, Dan Scott,
Matt Shaddle, and Rick Fereday, committee members. The public was
represented by Mike Anderson.
2. Minutes from the January 6th meeting were approved by a unanimous vote.
3. Public Comment: The public member commented that there was no public
comment today.
4. Lease Assignment: Based on current criteria, the Carey hangar lease
assignment to "Carey Family Trust" was unanimously recommended to the
Council, with no increase in the lease rate.
5. Hangar Holding Tanks: The decommissioning issues and sewer connection
process were discussed. Work is expected to begin this summer, with labor
provided by airport personnel and a back -hoe borrowed from an undetermined
resource.
6. Runway Construction Schedule: Work will begin as soon as possible after
the thaw, NLT May 1'. The runway will be closed for about a month, and the
taxiway has been approved for use by the FAA. The design mix for the asphalt
is being brought up to the "75-blow" design standard by the contractor.
7. SRE Building: A Design Review public hearing is scheduled for February 8` .
The addition of trees to the landscape was required by the City in its review.
Bids for the work are expected to go out by the middle of April, with work to
begin by the middle of May and a finish expected by the end of September.
The building must be able to house these four grant -provided vehicles:
o The front-end loader
o The tractor (with broom)
o The Norland (from the Sun Valley grant)
o The Oshkosh snow -blower
8. AAC Term Expirations: John Anderson reminded the respective committee
members that letters -of -intent to the Council for the two terms that expire at the
end of March and the one at the end of August need to be forthcoming soon.
9. Taxiway Environment Assessment: The EA is expected to be released back
to us from the FAA by March, with a public hearing presented by the contractor
shortly thereafter. Timing thereafter: an 18-month period to secure funding for
the required 17-19 acres (expected to extend into FY 12), and work to begin in
the summer of FY 13.
10. Idaho Airport Management Association: The annual conference will again
be held in McCall. Dates: May 23 and 24, with a pavement -management
workshop held at the airport on May 23.
11.Close: There being no other business, the meeting was closed at 12:50 p.m.
The next AAC meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 3`d.
