SUPPORTING THE PROPOSED LOUDOUN COUNTY ZONING
ORDINANCE REVISION ESTABLISHING THE JOINT LAND
MANAGEMENT AREA-20 ZONING DESIGNATION FOR THE
LEESBURG JOINT LAND MANAGEMENT AREA
WHEREAS, Loudoun County has drafted a new zoning ordinance to be compatible
with their recently adopted General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the county has proposed a new JLMA-20 zoning district which would
protect the Leesburg Executive Airport and surrounding areas from incompatible development;
and
and
WHEREAS, the JLMA-20 allows one dwelling unit per 20 acres and other limited uses;
WHEREAS, the county's General Plan provides for Keynote Employment and General
Business uses in the Leesburg JLMA, which are consistent with the goals of the 1997 Town
Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to preserve the area for future non-residential
economic opportunities that mutually benefit the county and town.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. That the Council supports the Joint Land Management Area-20 zoning
district so long as the Keynote Employment and General Business land use designations are
retained in the county's 2001 General Plan for the Leesburg JLMA.

SECTION II. That the Mayor will present the town's position during the Loudoun
County Planning Commission public hearing on the draft zoning ordinance.
