DIRECTING STAFF TO CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS OF HEALTH
CARE BENEFIT OPTIONS FOR TOWN EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the cost of health care coverage is escalating in double digit rates around the
country, including Loudoun County and the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, Loudoun County has imposed an increase of 30% over FY 2002 health
insurance premiums for all categories of Town employees currently enrolled in the County
administered health care plan; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council supports obtaining comprehensive health care
coverage for Town employees at the most cost effective rate.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, as
follows:
The Town staff will conduct a comprehensive analysis of health care options available to
town employees and families, including a review of fee for service, preferred provider, and
health maintenance organizations, and report to the Town Council no later than January 1, 2003.
