Minutes of November 15, 2007
Held at Eddy Elementary School
Chair O'Reilly called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

AGENDA CHANGES -None
CITIZENS SPEAK
- Principal Gauley introduced Paul Mullin, Eddy teacher, who requested that the
Committee approve an overnight for students on December 14. He reviewed the
activities (bowling, games, food, talent show) and the supervision coverage. It was
moved by Marie Enochty, seconded by Jennifer Rabold and vofed unanimously to
approve the overnight activities for December 14.
PRIORITY BUSINESS
- Administrators' Reports
Denise Fronius reported that the playground has been approved for ages 2 to 5;
reviewed her written report; 47 students participated in the CHIP Program; there was a
water problem and thanks to the DPW it is all fixed; special persons' day is tomorrow at
Eddy and Stony Brook.
Keith Gauley reported that the Veterans' Day assembly was a great event; literacy
support plans were created for students at risk or at some risk; there are five teams for
Destination Imagination; and parent conferences and book fair are coming up. He then
reviewed MCAS results; Eddy students did extremely well; there is concern for grade 3
ELA results; grade 4 ELA results were strong; parents shouldn't take kids out of school
for vacations (hurts AYP); special ed subgroups will be targeted for improvement.
Mrs. Fronius reported on the plans for the Professional Development days with MCAS
analysis involving both schools working together in the morning on Monday, following
lunch teachers will return to their school to put together an action plan, specialists and
special ed teachers work together at grade level. Tuesday will have teachers working on
ETUD design.
Ms. Briere reported that all the schools will be following a similar plan on Monday and at
the end of the day will have an action plan; Tuesday will be ETUD development across
the district. Mr. Gradone expressed his enthusiasm with both elementary schools
working together to maintain one system (Brewster).

Accept Eddv School Improvement Plan
It was moved by Marie Enochty, seconded by Steve Jones and voted unanimously fo
accept the Eddy School Improvement Plan for 2007-08.
Approve Fundraisers
/t was moved by Marie Enochty, seconded by Steve Jones and voted unanimously to
approve fundraisers.
REPORTS AND INFORMATION
Cape Cod Collaborative - no report this month
Planning Boarcl Special Permit
Supt. Gradone reported that the Planning Board unanimously approved amending the
terms of the Special Permit to lift the restrictions for the use of Eddy Elementary School
so that activities that serve the children of the school department or the Town are
authorized.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Marie Enochty and seconded by Steve Jones to approve the minutes of
October 78, 2007. Voted: 4 Aye, > Not Voting (J. Rabo/d).
OTHER
Financial Reports
Mr. Jones asked that the School Department notify the Finance Committee of the
problems with maintenance deficits in that we may need to go back to the Town in the
spring for funds in addition to the special education needs. Mrs. Fronius explained that a
preventive maintenance contract wasn't budgeted ($5100) and the school is really being
looked at for safety. Mr. Gauley reported that Eddy has two students enrolled (1 from
Russia, 1 from Columbia) who need ELL tutors and he anticipates a deficit of $15,000-
$20,000 by the end of the year.
