HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 403 - Buiding Code AmendmentORDINANCE NO. 4o 3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO, RELATING TO BUILDING REGULATIONS; AMENDING SECTION 2-1-5 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF McCALL, IDAHO, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOP- TION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE; AMENDING CHAPTER 1 OF TITLE II OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF McCALL, IDAHO, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 2-1-8A PROVIDING FOR OCCUPANCY EXCEPTIONS IN FIRE ZONE 2 AND BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 2-1-8B PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL WIRING REQUIREMENTS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF TIP CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 2-1-5 of the Village Code of McCall, Idaho, be, and the same hereby is amended by the addition of a new paragraph "M" to read as follows: (M) National Electrical Code and the appendices thereto as amended, recommended by the American Insurance Association for electrical wiring and apparatus. Section 2. That Chapter 1 of Title II of the Village Code of McCall, Idaho, be, and the same hereby is amended by the addition of a new Section 2-1-8A to read as follows: 2-1-8A OCCUPANCY EXCEPTIONS TO FIRE ZONE 2: All buildings and structures located within Fire Zone 2, that have a present occupancy rating R-3, M-1 or M-2, as defined in the Uniform Building Code, adopted or hereafter adopted by the City, shall not be subject to the restrictive provisions in the Uniform Building Code applicable to Fire Zone 2. Section 3. That Chapter 1 of Title II of the Village Code of McCall, Idaho, be, and the same hereby is amended by the addition of a new Section 2-1-8B to read as follows: 2-1-8B: ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL WIRING REQUIREMENTS: The following additional electrical wiring requirements shall apply within the corporate limits of the City: (1) All electrical wiring in new buildings in Fire Zone 2 shall be in metal raceways. (2) All electrical wiring in places of public assembly within the corporate limits of the City, including but not limited to schools, churches, fraternal orders, hospitals, rest homes, sanitariums, exhibition or entertainment buildings, whether publicly or privately owned or operated shall be in metal raceways. 0 s 11. (3) Metal raceways shall include only rigid metal conduit, electrical metallic tubing, surface metal raceways or mineral insulated, metal sheathed cable, excepting that, when new services or feeders are in- stalled underground or incased in concrete, rigid non-metallic conduit may be used. (4) Exception to the foregoing provisons: Conductors operating at thirty (30) volts or less may be installed by any method. Passed and approved this Attest:
