Leesburg’s 2012 Business Award Winners Announced
The Town of Leesburg is pleased to announce the winners and honorable
mentions for the 11th Annual Business Appreciation Awards
Leesburg, VA (May 22, 2012) – Nearly 300
people were in attendance at Leesburg’s 11th
annual Business Appreciation Reception for the
annual business awards presentation on
Tuesday, May 15, 2012. At the reception, the
Leesburg Town Council and Leesburg Economic
Development Commission honored businesses
and business owners in eleven award categories.
“The nominees and winners represent the best
of Leesburg. To be voted a winner by a
committee of your peers is to stand apart in
distinguished way,” said Marantha Edwards,
the Town’s Economic Development Manager.
“The range and diversity of industries included
among the winners speaks volumes about the
strength of the Town’s business community.”
The winners & honorable mentions in the eleven award categories are:
Ambassador Award - Celebrates a business or organization that has fostered a positive image
of Leesburg as a business location or tourist destination.
Winner: Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets
Honorable Mention: Leesburg Downtown Business Association
Community Steward Award - Celebrates a for-profit business that participates actively in the
community by contributing its resources.
Winner: Jersey Mike’s
Honorable Mention: Comfort Suites – Leesburg

Environmental Award - Celebrates a business that conducts or participates in activities that
benefit the environment through its business practices and policies on an on-going basis.
Winner: The Tire Shop
Honorable Mention: For Goodness Sake Natural Foods
Heritage Award - Celebrates a thriving business that has made a long-term commitment to
preserving the integrity and character of Leesburg’s Historic Downtown.
Winner: Tally Ho Theatre
Honorable Mention: AH&T Insurance
Home-Based Business Award - Celebrates the owner of an independent product- or service-
based business, operated from a residence located within Leesburg, who serves as a small
business advocate with the business community.
Winner: Lisa Sinclair Photography
Honorable Mention: Miles LeHane Companies, Inc.
Innovations Award - Celebrates a business that has brought recognition to Leesburg through
creative marketing efforts, innovative business ventures and/or unique product development.
Winner: Farm-to-Fork Loudoun
Honorable Mention: Solar4Leesburg
New Business Award - Celebrates a new business started within the last 3 years that, while
respectful of Leesburg’s past, represents the best of the Town’s future.
Winner: Los Tios Grill
Honorable Mention: D&D Automotive Repair
Public Art Award - Celebrates a business that makes a contribution to the development of the
Town’s public art program, or actively supports the arts within the Town of Leesburg.
Winner: LinguaArt Services
Honorable Mention: Loudoun Symphony
Veterans Affairs Award - Celebrates an individual business or organization that supports
programs for veterans of all conflicts.
Winner: Knight Solutions
Rising Star Award - Celebrates a Leesburg business which has been in operation for less than
one year and has set itself apart from other businesses through its exemplary achievements.
Winner: MacDowell Brew Kitchen

The George C. Marshall Award - Celebrates an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary
commitment to the community above and beyond business contributions.
Winner: Michael O’Connor
Honorable Mention: Dieter Meyer
In addition, special recognition was given to over 150 businesses that have been in business in
the Town of Leesburg for 25 years or more, as the Town’s “Legacy Businesses.” The Leesburg
Town Council and the Leesburg Economic Development Commission congratulate all of the
award nominees.
