AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO INITIATE A SISTER
CITY RELATIONSHIP WITH SAMCHEOK, SOUTH KOREA
WHEREAS, Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd has requested the Council establish a sister city
relationship between the Town of Leesburg and Samcheok, South Korea; and
WHEREAS, a potential for economic development and cultural informational exchanges
are available from sister city relationships; and
WHEREAS, Samcheok is a city near the hometown of Grand Master Choi of the U.S.
Tae Kwon Do Academy in Leesburg.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
The Town Manager is hereby directed to contact the City of Samcheok, South Korea to
exchange information towards establishing a sister city relationship.
