RESOLUTION NO. 2003-76 ADOPTED May 13, 2003
A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY FINAL
REPORT AND DIRECTING THE TOWN MANAGER TO
INCORPORATE THE REPORT'S RECOMMENDATIONS INTO THE
TOWN COMPREHENSIVE PLAN--
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council supports enhancing Leesburg's position as the
commercial, historic and tourist center for Loudoun County; and
WHEREAS, the work of the Leesburg Economic Development Commission encourages
and supports economic progress and stability within Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, on May 29, 2002, the Council authorized the Town Manager to execute a
contract for a Downtown Business Development Strategy and implementation plan; and
WHEREAS, the Town subsequently entered into a contract with Amett Muldrow &
Associates to complete the Business Development Strategy and implementation plan; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission has received the final report and
implementation plan from Amett Muldrow & Associates and recommends that the Council
endorse the report and its recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the Council has received the report and held a public hearing to seek input
on the report and its recommendations on April 22, 2003; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends endorsement of the report.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
endorses the Business Development Strategy report presented by Arnett Muldrow & Associates
and directs the Town Manager to incorporate the recommendations of the report into the Town
Comprehensive Plan.
