AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2003 BUDGET AND MAKING
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,661.25 TO THE
ENGINEERING & PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND $4,518.48
TO THE AIRPORT FROM FEDERAL AND STATE OF VIRGINIA
DISASTER ASSISTANCE FUNDS RECEIVED FOR SNOW
REMOVAL DURING THE FEBRUARY 2003 SNOWSTORM
WHEREAS, the town conducted extensive snow removal operations during the February
2003 snowstorm; and
WHEREAS, on March 28, 2003, Federal disaster assistance was made available to local
Virginia jurisdictions for the February 2003 snowstorm for up to 75% of certain costs for
equipment, contractors, and overtime for snow removal operations over a consecutive 48-hour
period; and
WHEREAS, the State of Virginia is reimbursing Loudoun County and its incorporated
areas for up to 10% of the eligible costs associated with snow removal operations over the same
consecutive 48-hour period as the Federal government; and
WHEREAS, the town submitted its disaster assistance application on May 20, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the town received $70,661.25 for General Fund costs and $4,518.48 for
Airport Fund costs for snow removal operations on June 5, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Town Manager recommends the Council appropriate these funds prior to
the end of the current fiscal year.
A RESOLUTION:

APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE FY 2003 BUDGET
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The FY 2003 Budget is hereby amended and appropriations are made for
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2002 and ending June 30, 2003 as follows:

Appropriate $70,661.25 in Federal and State of Virginia disaster assistance funds
received by the town for snow removal operations during the February from the
General Fund to the Engineering & Public Works Department.
Appropriate $4,518.48 in Federal and State of Virginia disaster assistance funds
received by the town for snow removal operations during the February 2003 from the
Airport Fund to the Airport operating budget.
PASSED this 24th of June 2003.
