A RESOLUTION: AMENDING RESOLUTION 2003-98 TO CHANGE THE STREET
WIDTHS AND SIDEWALK LOCATIONS FOR PERSHING AVENUE
IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2003-98, adopted on June 10, 2003, established
improvements to Pershing Avenue to include widening the roadway to 36 feet and installing
sidewalks on both sides except between Market Street and the alley located approximately 650
feet north which was established with a 30-feet wide road, curb to curb, and a sidewalk on the
west side only; and
WHEREAS, Town Council members became concerned that residents of Pershing
Avenue were not given an opportunity to comment on the adopted road widths and sidewalk
locations since these were proposed after the public comment portion of the Town Council
meeting of June 10, 2003; and
WHEREAS, reconsideration of improvements to Pershing Avenue was placed on the July
7, 2003 Town Council Workshop and July 8, 2003 Town Council Meeting agendas; and
WHEREAS, residents of Pershing Avenue were notified in writing that the
reconsideration was scheduled to be discussed at the July 7, 2003 Town Council worksession;
and
WHEREAS, many residents of Pershing Avenue presented their views on the width of
the street and sidewalk locations to the Town Council at the Town Council worksession on July
7, 2003.

AMENDING RESOLUTION 2003-98 TO CHANGE THE STREET WIDTHS
AND SIDEWALK LOCATIONS FOR PERSHING AVENUE
IMPROVEMENTS
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town in Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
Resolution No. 2003-98 is amended to modify the street width and sidewalk locations of
the Pershing Avenue improvements as follows:
From Market Street to a point apProximately 280 feet north, widen'the pavement to 30-
feet, install Concrete curb and gutter on both sides, install a concrete sidewalk on the west side
only, and allow parking on the west side only.
From a point approximately 280 feet north to the alley located approximately 650 feet
north of Market Street, widen the pavement to 34-feet, install concrete curb and gutter on both
sides, install a concrete sidewalk on both sides, and allow parking on both sides.
From the same alley north to the end of the street, widen the pavement to 36-feet, install
concrete curb and gutter and concrete sidewalk on both sides, allow parking on both sides and
install a cul-de-sac at the end.
