The Adjourned Meeting of the City Council was called to
order by Mayor Harker at 6:10 P. M.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen = Merritt, Nunamaker, Tyrell, Harker
Absent: Councilman - Dickason
Also Present: City Manager Koski & City Attorney Martin
City Attorney Martin stated in the matter of service sta-
tions the 90 day moratorium runs out on April 19, and this meeting
was called as to whether this moratorium should be extended for an-
other period of time, for which this public hearing was called.
Councilman Merritt moved to open the public hearing, Coun-
cilman Nunamaker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Harker asked if anyone in the audience wished to
speak for or against the continuation of this moratorium. No one
came forward to speak.
Councilman Tyrell moved to close the public hearing,
Councilman Merritt seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Following discussion Ctty Attorney Martin read title to
Ordinance No. 66 -194 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CiTY OF TEMPLE CITY EXTEND-
ING THE TERM OF ORDINANCE 66 -183 RELATING TO A MORATORIUM ON SERVICE
STATION CONSTRUCTION to continue In effect until Sept. 30, 1966, as
an urgency ordinance. Councilman Tyrell moved to adopt Ordinance
No. 66 -194 as an urgency ordinance, Councilman Nunamaker seconded,
roll call vote to carry the motion as follows:
AYES: Councilmen - Merritt, Nunamaker, Tyreli, Harker
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilman- Dickason
Councilman Dickason arrived at this time.
The City Manager brought to the attention of the Council
a neighborhood problem on the property at 9221 Pentland. The neighbor;
ask the condition be abated by declaring it a public nuisance. They
have a large accumulation of trash and garbage. He is referring this
to the Council for discussion about what action should be taken.
The collection includes old iceboxes and they have the locks removed
by the Sheriffs Dept., but there is a collection of various types of
debris, the fence is inadequate, and the condition is very hazardous
for the children in the neighborhood. He suggested addressing a lett(
to Mr. & Mrs. Giffis of this address, to correct the problem in
possibly three days or action would be taken, which would give the
staff leverage. Following discussion Councilman Merritt moved that
criminal action be filed on the property on 9221 Pentland Ave., Coun-
cilman Tyrell seconded, roll call vote to carry as follows:
AYES: Councilmen- Dickason, Merritt, Nunamaker, Tyrell, Harker
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen-None
The City Manager advised the Coordinating Council is again
this year having the Recognition Dinner to be held in June. They
would like the City to co- sponsor this again and have written a letter
to be signed by the Mayor and President of the Coordinating Council
which would require 70 sheets of city paper for the letter with the
Coordinating Council paying the postage. Councilman Tyrell so moved,
Councilman Nunamaker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The City Manager referred the Council to an item in the cir-
culate file re planting camellias (100 plants) at the L. A. Zoo at a
cost of $350. This will be considered at a study session,
Councilman Tyrell moved to adjourn,unti t 6:30 P.M. Apr. 19,
seconded and carried. Council adjourned a 6 :25 P.M.
