HomeMy Public PortalAbout2003_10_28_r147The Town of Leesburg, rg ma PRESENTED October 28, 2003 RESOLUTION NO. 2 0 0 3 - 14 7 ADOPTED October 28, 2003 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH PBGH CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS TO CONDUCT A TEST OF TOWN PURCHASE CARD TRANSACTIONS FOR A FEE NOT TO EXCEED $15,000 PLUS OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES WHEREAS, on October 15, 2003, the Town Council authorized the Town Manager to enter into agreement with PBGH Certified Public Accountants to conduct a test of the town purchase card transactions estimated at $15,000 plus out-of-pocket expenses; and WHEREAS, on October 23, 2003, PBGH submitted a revised scope of work to test the town purchase card transactions; and WHEREAS, the finn may use a forensics specialist to interview up to five individual employees to gain information regarding their knowledge of suspicious or fraudulent uses of town purchase cards; and WHEREAS, the firm will select 25 transactions to test; and WHEREAS, the Town Manager is directed to use due diligence in ensuring the cost and benefit of such activities are appropriate given the use of public tax dollars to be reallocated from the town's general fund budget; THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Manager is authorized to enter into agreement with PBGH Certified Public Accountants to conduct a test of town purchase card transactions for a fee not to exceed $15,000 plus out-of-pocket expenses based on the letter proposal from PBGH dated October 23, 2003 and to take such other actions as may be necessary.
