RESOLUTION IN CONSIDERATION OF THREE ALTERNATIVE
QUOTATIONS FOR ASPHALT OVERLAY TO
PROVIDE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM DRIVEWAY TO
GARAGE DOORS AT THE FIRE STATION BUILDING
FOR THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA
WHEREAS,the transition from driveway to garage floor for the Fire Station bays is excessively
tall due to outdoor pavement settling, causing wear and tear on fire trucks and related equipment; and,
WHEREAS, Fire Department personnel researched various ways of resolving the transition
before soliciting quotes from Tri-City Blacktop, Inc for three options; and,
WHEREAS,Tri-City Blacktop provided pricing for three options,as follows:
Option 1: Chip, mill concrete, prime and overlay 960 s.f. $ 5,200.00
Option 2: Chip, mill concrete, prime and overlay 6,100 s.f. $12,686.00
Option 3: Install temp ramp with UPM cold mix $ 1,500.00
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, SCOTT COUNTY,IN THE STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That said the Proposal from Tri City Blacktop,Bettendorf, dated October 25, 2019
shall be made part of and is hereafter a part of this resolution.
Section 2. That the Council accepts either:

Option 3: Install temp ramp with UPM cold mix $ 1,500.00
Council shall indicate Option 1, 2 or 3 in its motion.
Section 3. That the Mayor shall sign his acceptance and City Clerk attest the indicated option
from Tri City Blacktop,Inc., Bettendorf,thereby accepting the Proposal.

As requested, we are furnishing the following quotation for asphalt paving for the project known as: Riverdale
Fire Station.
Tri City Blacktop, Inc. proposes to furnish all labor, materials,equipment, transportation and insurance
necessary to accomplish the following:
• Chip or mill headers at the 1"`joint.
• Tack, prime, and overlay approx. 960 sq, ft. at the doors.
We will accomplish the above items for a lump sum price of$5,200.00
Option#2
• Chip or mill headers as required to produce a smooth transition between the new HMA overlay and
existing concrete pavement.
• Clean and tack prime the existing surface.
• Machine-apply a 2" thick compacted asphalt overlay from the doors to the newer concrete at the
approach approx. 6,100 sq. ft.
We will accomplish the above items for a lump sum price of$12,686.00
Option#3
• Install temporary ramp at the doors using UPM cold mix asphalt.
We will accomplish the above items for a lump sum price of$1,500.00
Please indicate which items you are accepting.
NO I'b: If the weather does not permit us to do the work this season, we will complete it the Spring of 2020
for the same price if accepted now.
This proposal/contract must be signed and included as part of any purchase order, contract, subcontract or
agreement. Failure to do so renders this proposal null and void.
PERMS: Net 30 days. A 1.5%per month service/interest charge will be applied to all past due accounts. All
legal and attorney fees incurred to collect past due accounts are the liability of the buyer.
This proposal is valid for 30 days. If this proposal is acceptable to you, please sign and return one copy and we
will enter it into our work schedule.
