A RESOLUTION TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE MAYOR'S TRIP TO THE MISSISSIPPI
RIVER CITY AND TOWNS INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa must approve the
allocation of funds for travel costs, and;
WHEREAS, Mayor Michael Bawden is a member of the Executive Board of the
Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative and will be representing his city and
the state of Iowa at the meeting in Washington, DC from March 3-5, 2020 with
national legislators and key administration officials on matters related to flood
relief and recovery, stormwater management and transportation infrastructure,
and;
WHEREAS, Among the issues to be discussed at this meeting is a cooperative
approach to stormwater management of the drainage way off of Fieldcrest
involving the City of Bettendorf and other federal agencies that may be able to
provide grants or other funding sources for the work, and;
WHEREAS, Mayor Bawden will also be among a delegation of mayors meeting
with Senator Ernst (tentatively) and leadership from the US Army Corps of
Engineers, FEMA and EPA.
WHEREAS, the estimated costs for attending the conference include parking at
the Quad City Airport, meals while in transit, Uber/Cab Fare in Washington, Hotel
and Airfare. Actual expenses (documented with receipts) will be billed to the
City and costs will not exceed $1 ,400.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, IOWA,
That the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa herby authorizes the
reimbursement to Mayor Bawden for the expenses related to the MRCTI trip.

Mayors of the Mississippi River will come together with the Mississippi River Caucus in the U.S. House and
Senate to build a future for our vital infrastructure
• The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will host our dinner with Army Corps of Engineers, March 3;
• March 4 Mayors will make an announcement regarding the Resilience Revolving Loan Fund;
• Mayors will announce two international endeavors for 2020 related to restoring infrastructure ;
• Mayors will coordinate directly with agencies to secure valuable recovery assistance; and
• MRCTI will propose opportunities for member cities in the Water Resources Development Act.
New Highway Bill, new Water Resources Bill, and a chance to improve our position in the wake of the largest
flood in U.S. history; this is a key moment for the Mississippi River Corridor!
