The BREWSTER AGRICULTURAL COMl~iIISSION
Held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
At the Brewster Town Office Building, 2198 Main Street, Room A
Present: Peter Hemnann, Heather Mangelinkx, Dave Carlson, Stephen Brown, Rebecca
Howes and Jack Latham.
Mr. Herrmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., minutes of the April 17, 2008
meeting were accepted and unanimously approved by the board.
Mr. Herrmann presented the following issues:
1) Ed Lewis is looking for more agricultural board members, it was discussed that
someone with horses on small acreage would be beneficial to being on the board
as it would help present their issues. Mr. Carlson suggested Diane Murphy, he
would contact her to see if she would be interested
2) The Town of Brewster Planning Board and other committees are working on new
regulations for the district of critical planning concerns and how it will affect any
activities in the future.
3) The fair plan insurance will not insure you if you have livestock on your property.
4) Irene Winkler is looking for people to help with the planning of the statewide
Agricultural Commission conference to be held in March 2009.
5) Ryan Birch is farming the property on Bakers Pond Road and is going to donate
part of his crop to a needy family.
6) The need to communicate with someone from the DCPC to update us on the
status of their regulations. Perhaps Elizabeth Taylor would be willing to da this.
The next Agricultural Commission meeting will be held Thursday, June 26, 2008.
At 8:45 pm Ms Mangelinkx motioned to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Latham seconded
and all agreed.
