MINUTES of the MEETING of The BREWSTER AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION Held Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. At the Brewster Town Office Building, 2198 Main Street, Room A. Present: Peter Herrmann, Heather Mangelinkx, Dave Carlson, Stephen Brown, Julie Trzcinski and Jack Latham. Mr. Herrmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., minutes of the May 15, 2008 meeting were accepted and unanimously approved by the board with the correction to item #2 to be reworded as follows: The Town of Brewster Planning Boazd and other committees are working on new regulation for the district of critical planning concerns and how it will affect any activities in the future. Katherine Beauchamp from the Association to Preserve Cape Cod came to check with us on the data base she is collecting on Cape Cod farms. We have agreed to share our data with her on Brewster farms. Fazm Bureau meetings are held on the Third Tuesday of the month at the Hyannis Stop & Shop, if anyone is interested in joining. We discussed the possibility of forming a group called Friends of Brewster Agriculture, they could possibly raise funds to help Brewster farmers, the Farm Bureau could help maintain these funds. The APCC could send out a mailing about developing a friends group. Mr. Herrmann had a questionnaire to fill out for the statewide Ag. Com Conference to be held in January 2009, this we completed during the meeting. The Cape & Islands Farm Bureau recommends that all livestock owners should have barn boxes readily available (containing halters & lead ropes) for rescue workers to be able to rescue animals in an emergency. It was discussed that perhaps the animal control officer should come to one of our meetings. Larry Crreely who handles the town cable tv suggests that we advertise on the cable station about our meetings. The DCPC would like our input on discussing how to protect our water when it comes to farming. Next meeting will beheld July 17~' At 9:30 Jack Latham motioned to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Carlson seconded and all agreed.
