The BREWSTER AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION
Held Thursday September 18 , 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
At the Brewster Town Office Building, 2198 Main Street, Room A
Present: Peter Hemnann, Heather Mangelinkx, Dave Carlson, Stephen Brown, Julie
Trzcinski, Rebecca Howes and Jack Latham.
Mr. Herrmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., minutes of the July 17, 2008
meeting were accepted and unanimously approved by the board.
Harwich Ag. Commission had referred a complaint to us about a landscaping business off
Upper County Rd, neighbors were complaining about noise from the generators to his
greenhouse, however the notice to us did not have enough information for us to act on at
this time.
Mr. Herrmann passed out the results of the AgCom Conference questionnaire about
which topics would be of interest for the January 2009 conference. The number one topic
would be how to get farming into the public eye. Also of interest is the assessing of farm
buildings for taxes.
Discussion about how we could use funds either through grants or the sale of the
Agricultural number plates, suggestions were:
Agriculture in the classroom
Gardens at the elementary school
Using municipal land for hay or other agriculture
Agriculture as part of the Recreation program
Ms Trzcinski motioned to end the meeting at 9:00, Mr. Latham seconded and all agreed
