Members Absent: Heidi Geisler. List of members and their info was distributed. Copy will be given to town manager. Summary of poster judging contest by the Steinmanns for Cape Cod Access Directory Summary of Emergency Preparedness Fair attended by the Steinmanns. Our committee will work with the Emergency Preparedness Team to help identify those with special needs who would need assistance evacuating in an emergency. Two questions in our survey deal with this issue. Reviewed status of Beach Wheelchair project. The scheduled speaker was to be Wendy Allegrone. She was unable to attend. The committee felt that any discussion of the beach wheelchair issues (where to keep it available, how to fund a replacement, etc.) should be held with our Recreation Director, Wendy Allegrone, present. Issue was postponed until Wendy can attend one of our meetings. The committee discussed and reviewed the 2008 survey letter and questionnaire re Brewster residents with special needs. It was decided that the letter and survey be reviewed by the town manager and then sent to a designated group of residents as soon as possible. The committee hopes it will be sent out by mid-May. It was also decided to leave this survey in public places such as the town hall, library, Council on Aging, and Visitors Center. Also, the committee thought it a good idea to put a note in the newspaper publicizing the availability of the survey. Brian Ladley will prepare the labels for mailing. Master Plan: It is hoped that in September 2008, the committee members will have done their own assessments re handicap accessibility in all its aspects. We hope to consolidate information from the survey questionnaires, personal assessments, the DPW's January 2008 review of Brewster's beaches and any other info available to develop a master plan. Because the master plan will be implemented over a period of years, the committee decided that there was one other issue re automatic door openers that probably should be dealt with earlier, possibly in this fall's town meeting. It is the east side door on the Council on Aging building. The Steinmanns will discuss this with the town manager. A future project might be to make a list of places in Brewster that we committee members use and possibly make suggestions for their consideration re improvement of accessibility. Maureen Steinmann will prepare the committee notes. Brian Ladley will follow up about problem issues re accessibility when brought to the Committee's attention. Respectfully submitted,
