RECOGNITION OF THE H.O.P.E. SYMBOL
PRESENTED

WHEREAS, Town of Leesburg employees recommend Town Council recognition of the H.O.P.E.
symbol as a representation of the values of the town employees; and
WHEREAS, the H.O.P.E. Committee was developed as an extension from the High Performance
Organization (HPO) Committee and was given the challenge of putting together a values, vision and mission
statement for the town employees; and
WHEREAS, from that effort came the integration team and the development of the H.O.P.E. symbol;
and
WHEREAS, the initial symbol was designed by town employee, Brian Lloyd and the H.O.P.E.
committee and further developed by a private firm; and
WHEREAS, a diamond was chosen for its strength, value and clarity, with the letters H__for Honesty, O
for Openness, P for Pride and E for Excellence summarizing town employees' vision, values, and mission
statement; and
THEREFORE RESOVLED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, that the H.O.P.E.
symbol and the diamond's qualities represent the values, vision and mission statements that the town employees
cooperatively developed and is recognized as the symbol of the town employee values in Leesburg.
