A RESOLUTION: EXPRESSING CONTINUED OPPOSITION TO THE USE OF
ANY PART OF THE W&OD REGIONAL PARK FOR AN
ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINE CORRIDOR
WHEREAS, Dominion Virginia Power Company has announced that the
application for the 230 kV transmission line that it will file with the State Corporation
Commission will not include any of the nine miles of the Washington & Old Dominion
(W&OD) Regional Park west of the Route 7/15 Bypass; and
WHEREAS, a two-mile section of the W&OD Regional Park between the
Pleasant View Substation and the Route 7/15 Bypass is still being considered among the
optional transmission corridor alignments; and
WHEREAS, staff believes that there are better alternative locations for the
transmission line.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
That on behalf of the citizens of Leesburg, Town Council thanks Dominion
Virginia Power for dropping consideration of the W&OD Regional Park alignment
option west of the Route 7/15 Bypass.
FURTHER, RESOLVED that the Town Council continues to pledge to use all
legal measures to ensure that no part of the W&OD Regional Park west of the Pleasant
