HomeMy Public PortalAbout2004_11_09_r187The Town of Leesburg, Virginia RESOLUTION NO. 2004-187 PRESENTED ADOPTED November 9, 2004 November 9, 2004 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING CHANGES TO COUNCIL OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR WORKSESSIONS AND COUNCIL MEETINGS WHEREAS, Councilmembers meet on a regular basis in both workshop and council meeting sessions conducting the public's business; and WHEREAS, these meetings represent significant investments of time by the Council, public and staff; and WHEREAS, in an effort to improve the efficiency of these meetings, a number of operating procedures have been suggested for consideration. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: I. Non-staffpresentations before the council will be scheduled to begin at 7 PM with the actual meeting beginning at 7:30 PM. II. Council comments will be moved to the end of the meeting so business can be conducted before comments are made. III. Council will attempt to limit their comments to no more than five minutes just as citizens are asked to limit their comments, except during a debate or questions involving issues. IV. At each desk will be a summary sheet for Roberts Rules of Order for Council members to use as a reference. V. All Town Council work sessions, commission and board meetings occurring in the Council Chamber will be televised on cable with a wide-angle fixed camera RESOLUTION: -2- APPROVING CHANGES TO COUNCIL OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR WORKSESSIONS AND COUNCIL MEETINGS system and to the extent possible, all town boards and commissions should meet in the Town Council Chamber.
