A RESOLUTION: MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE 9/11 RECOVERY EDA GRANT-
FUNDED AIRPORT GATEWAY PROJECT TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, Loudoun County received $350,000 in grant funding from the Economic
Development Administration to aid in the economic recovery from the impact of the September 11, 2001
terrorist acts upon the United States and earmarked twenty percent, or $70,000, of this funding for the
development and marketing of a tourism gateway at the Leesburg Executive Airport; and
WHEREAS, the County has requested that the Town Council appoint a member to the joint
Airport Gateway Project Task Force to review the design proposals for the gateway project; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council appreciates the County' s acknowledgement of the
importance of the Leesburg Executive Airport to the overall economy of the region; and
WHEREAS, the Council supports and endorses the development of a tourism gateway at the
Leesburg Executive Airport and wishes to be an active participant in this project.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
Councilmember Marty Martinez is appointed as the Leesburg Town Council representative to the
joint Airport Gateway Project Task Force.
