A RESOLUTION:
ESTABLISHING WEEKEND TROLLEY SERVICE FOR THE TOWN
OF LEESBURG FROM NOVEMBER 27, 2004 TO JANUARY 2, 2005
AND ENDORSING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS TO SUPPORT
SPECIAL EVENTS WITH THE TROLLEY.
WHEREAS, the Town Council has established regular trolley service for the town,
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM beginning November 15, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the Monday through Friday trolleY service runs on Route//2; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to provide weekend trolley service for the town
throughout the holiday season (November 27, 2004 to January 2, 2005) to bolster retail
opportunities for the businesses located in the town; and
WHEREAS, the weekend trolley service will also run on Route//2; and
WHEREAS, the weekend hours are proposed to coincide with the hours the town
businesses are open: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (9 hours) on Saturdays and 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM (6
hours) on Sundays, for a weekend total of 15 hours; and
WHEREAS, the hourly cost for the Virginia Regional Transportation Association
(VRTA) to operate the trolley on behalf of the town is $40.34; and
WHEREAS, at $605.10 per weekend, the total for the proposed six weekends of trolley
service, excluding Christmas Day, would be $3,267.54; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council also desires to provide special town-sponsored events
with the town trolley; and
WHEREAS, the special events could include, First Friday Nights, town tours of holiday
lights, Prize Patrol to award the holiday light awards, and any other event that would be town
oriented and beneficial to the town.

OF LEESBURG FROM NOVEMBER 27, 2004 TO JANUARY 2, 2005
AND ENDORSING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS TO SUPPORT
SPECIAL EVENTS WITH THE TROLLEY.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:
The Town Council hereby establishes weekend trolley service on Route #2 to run from
November 27, 2004 to January 2, 2005, within the hours of 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM (9 hours) on
Saturdays and the hours of 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM (6 hours) on Sundays, with the exception of
Christmas Day. The funding for the $3,267.54 to cover the weekend operation of the trolley will
come from the budgets of the Town Manager and the Economic Development Department. In
addition to the $3,267.54, the Town Council endorses the expenditure of $1,000.00 in funding to
support additional hours of trolley special event use, which will bring the total trolley
expenditures for holiday weekend service and special events to $4,267.54 from the budgets of
the Town Manager and the Economic Development Department.
