A PLEDGE OF THE MAYORS OF MIAMI DADE COUNTY ENDORSING THE RESILIENT305
STRATEGY, AGREEING TO CONSIDER COLLABORATING TO IMPLEMENT THE
RESILIENT305 STRATEGY IN WHOLE OR IN PART AS APPROPRIATE FOR EACH
MUNICIPALITY, AND URGING OUR RESIDENTS, ANCHOR INSTITUTIONS, PARTNERS,
COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND THE PHILANTHROPIC SECTOR TO COLLABORATE ON
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RESILIENT305 STRATEGY.
WHEREAS Greater Miami & the Beaches (GM&B) was created out of a partnership in 2015
among Miami -Dade County, City of Miami, and City of Miami Beach to collectively apply for and
was successfully awarded Rockefeller's internationally -acclaimed 100 Resilient Cities Program.
GM&B's integrated regional approach is unique for the overall 100 Resilient Cities Program,
where the vast majority of participants are individual cities.
WHEREAS Resilient305 is a regional strategy for Greater Miami and the Beaches developed
collaboratively by Miami -Dade County, the City of Miami and the City of Miami Beach, with the
support of the Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities and The Miami Foundation. The
strategy will help us focus on the environmental, social and economic shocks and stresses that
most affect our ability to live, work and prosper as a region. Since 2016, the Resilient305 team
has met with municipalities, their residents, local leaders and subject -matter experts to better
understand shocks and stresses facing the entire region and build the outline of the
Resilient305 Resilience Strategy.
WHEREAS, Building resilience is the capacity of individuals, communities, institutions,
businesses, and systems within a city to survive, adapt, and grow no matter what kinds of
chronic stresses and acute shocks they experience.
WHEREAS, true resilience requires the widest possible cooperation by municipalities,
nonprofits, and institutions throughout Miami -Dade County, and participation in effective and
appropriate regional response, with a view to setting the world standard for resilience in our
community;
THEREFORE, we - the undersigned - pledge to collaborate in supporting and collaborating to
implement Resilient305. Mayor's Accord signatories will share progress with GM&B and the
Miami Foundation and agree to include a broad spectrum of partners and stakeholders in their
communities.

Village of Key Biscayne Mayor's Pledge
In support of Resilient305, the Village of Key Biscayne specifically looks forward to
collaborating on implementation the following action items, with support from the Village
Commission, as appropriate to build both local and regional resilience.
1. Support See It to Believe It!: communicate resilience through multiple visual communications
• Action: Share materials in communications
2. Build Reef Biodiversity and Defenses: restoring reefs for reef health and to mitigate storm
surge
• Action: Coordinate resources and information, support programs
3. Resilient 35 in the 305 Network: government to government resilience training
• Action: Identify/create a Chief Resilience Officer position and engage in peer network
4. Send Your Boss to Bootcamp!: resilience training for newly elected officials in the 305
• Action: Send elected officials to trainings
5. Provide Resilience Training for all Employees: internal staff resilience training - what is
resilience, project specific
• Action: Send staff to trainings
6. Complete and Implement the SLR Strategy: countywide effort to analyze SLR models,
projections and develop capital projects
• Action: Share information
7. Efficient and Effective Together: capital projects communication and coordination across
municipal boundaries
• Action: Share information
THEREFORE, I - Mayor Michael Davey on behalf of the Village of Key Biscayne - pledge to
collaborate in implementing Resilient305 alongside the Key Biscayne Commission.
