HomeMy Public PortalAboutCable Television Advisory -- 2008-08-05 MinutesMinutes of the meeting of the Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee scheduled for 7:00 pm on Tuesday 5 August 2008. The meeting is called to order at 7:04 pm on Tuesday 5 August 2008 by Larry Greeley. Members present at this time are: Larry Greeley Norman Adams Larry Bugden Janet Husband Tonight as the meeting opens there is one person in the audience area. Larry Greeley asks the audience member if she wishes to speak to the committee and she says that she does. Larry invites her to come forward and do so. She identifies herself as Carol Spade, a resident of Brewster with Basic Cable service from Comcast. She says that she no longer is able to watch CSPAN due to its being changed from an analog signal to a digital signal, and she does not like this reduction of the service provided as Basic Cable. She remarks on other aspects of the currently provided Basic Cable service which she feels are less than satisfactory. After her comments she thanks the committee for listening to her evaluation of the Basic Cable service as provided by Comcast. Larry Greeley thanks her for presenting her views. She leaves. There is some discussion of the current status of Basic Cable (including the possibility of regulation by the state) taking off from the comments made by Carol Spade. Norman Adams distributes copies of the draft minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 3 June 2008, as well as copies of the approved and subsequently filed minutes of the meeting of Wednesday 7 May 2008. A motion is made by Larry Bugden and seconded by Janet Husband to accept the minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 3 June 2008 as presented. The vote to accept is unanimous. Larry Greeley reports on the recent developments in and the current status of the consideration of the Nauset Regional High School for use of available space for as the community access studio for the several towns which now rely on the use of the studio facility located in the Comcast building on Locust Road in Orleans and managed by Comcast. So far no insuperable difficulties have been identified and the possibility of such use is still generally regarded favorably. The committee members discuss this subject extensively, including related issues involving Comcast, such as return feeds. There is no explicit discussion of the time, date, and place of the next meeting, which therefore will be at the usual time, date, and place, to wit, at 7:00 pm on the first Tuesday of next month in this building. The meeting seems to be out of other business to betaken up tonight. A motion to adjourn is made by Larry Bugden and seconded by Janet Husband. The motion is passed unanimously.
