AMENDING THE "HANDBOOK FOR BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND
COMMITTEES" TO INCLUDE GUDELINES FOR ADVISORY GROUP MEMBER
INTERACTIONS WITH THE PUBLIC, COUNCILMANIC REPRESENTATIVES,
AND STAFF MEMBERS
WHEREAS, the Town COuncil greatly appreciates the time and effort put forth by the members of the
town's advisory groups in their service to the town; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council passed a resolution endorsing the "Handbook for Boards, Commissions
and Committees" at its October 26, 2004 regularly scheduled meeting to provide the members of the advisory
groups with guidance regarding the town's expectations for their service on their respective advisory groups;
and
WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to promote a participatory advisory process that is open and
inviting to all members of the community, that treats all members of the advisory groups, public, and town staff
with courtesy and respect; and
WHEREAS, pages 6 and 7 of the "Handbook for Boards, Committees and Commissions should be
amended to reflect the language highlighted in Item A, attached herein.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Council
hereby amends pages 6 and 7 of the "Handbook for Boards, Commissions and Committees" to reflect the
language highlighted in Item A, attached herein. Specifically, that the sentence "Ensuring each member of the
advisory group, public and town staff is treated with courtesy and respect" is added to the ninth bullet on page 6
and the ninth bullet on page 7.
