HomeMy Public PortalAbout2005_02_23_r032The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED February 23, 2005 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-32 ADOPTED February 23, 2005 A RESOLUTION: APPROPRIATING $150,000 FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF TOLBERT LANE AND SYCOLIN ROAD. WHEREAS, in the late summer of 2004, the Loudoun County park and ride facility was relocated to the area of Miller Drive; and WHEREAS, this relocation in addition to the residential construction occurring in the Tavistock and Kincaid areas have led to increased traffic volumes on Sycolin Road. and at the intersection of Tolbert Lane; and WHEREAS, the intersection at Sycolin Road and Tolbert Lane satisfies the required Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) warrant for a traffic signal; and WHEREAS, at the February l, 2005 meeting of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, funding to the Town of Leesburg for design and construction of a traffic signal at Tolbert Lane and Sycolin in the amount of $150,000 was approved from the Loudoun County Gas Tax Fund. THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Town Council hereby appropriates $150,000 from the Loudoun County Traffic Signal Contingency Account and the Gasoline Tax Fund for the design and construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Tolbert Lane and Sycolin Road.
