HomeMy Public PortalAbout2005_03_22_r060The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: March 22, 2005 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-60 ADOPTED: March 22, 2005 A RESOLUTION: URGING THE LOUDOUN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO HALT ALL WORK ON DEVELOPER INITIATED CPAM'S WHEREAS, on March 3, 2005 the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Virginia in a decision overtumed a Circuit Court ruling upholding the AR-1 and AR-2 zoning districts in the rural policy area of the Loudoun County Comprehension Plan; and WHEREAS, the impact of said ruling potentially will place tens of thousands of new residential units back on the planning map of Loudoun County; and WHEREAS, regional interconnections link different communities to each other and therefore impact neighboring communities; the threat of construction of said tens of thousands of new residential units, primarily in the rural policy area of the Loudoun County Comprehensive Plan, would degrade the quality of life of the residents of Leesburg, potentially add hundreds of thousands of average daily vehicle trips to our roads, require additional new schools to be built above those already planned and further increase the County tax burden. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby urges the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to halt all work on the developer initiated CPAMS presently being considered and take all steps necessary to address the issues raised in the Supreme Court decision and reimplement the AR-1 and AR-2 zoning categories as soon as possible.
