A RESOLUTION: PRESENTED April 26, 2005 2005-82 ADOPTED April 26, 2005 AUTHORIZING LETTER OF ENGAGEMENT FOR ELIZABETH D. WHITING, ESQ. TO SERVE AS INTERIM TOWN ATTORNEY WHEREAS, the Town Attorney, William Donnelly, will be vacating his position as of May 1, 2005; and WHEREAS, the need exists to have an interim attorney monitor and advise on pending legal issues until a regular full-time appointment is made; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth D. Whiting, Esq. has offered her services in response to a duly placed advertisement for an interim attorney; and WHEREAS, Elizabeth D. Whiting, Esq. has considerable municipal law experience; and. WHEREAS, Elizabeth D. Whiting, Esq. has represented that no conflict of interests exist relative to providing temporary legal support to the Town of Leesburg, provided she is not asked to represent the Town as plaintiff or defense counsel in matters of litigation; and WHEREAS, the legal services of Elizabeth D. Whiting, Esq. will expire upon the appointment of a regular full-time Town Attorney. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Mayor of the Town of Leesburg is hereby authorized to execute a Letter of Engagement on behalf of the Leesburg Town Council with Elizabeth D. Whiting, Esq. to serve as the interim Town Attorney for the Town of Leesburg. -2- RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING AN LETTER OF ENGAGEMENT FOR AN INTERIM TOWN ATTORNEY SECTION II.
