HomeMy Public PortalAboutCommunity Preservation Committee -- 2008-02-27 MinutesDate approved 3-12-08 Vote 5-1-0 TOWN OF BREWSTER COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes February 27, 2008 Chairman Elliott Carr called the meeting to order at 4:30 PM. Members present were; Roland Bassett Jr., Jeanne Boehm, Paul Hush, Michael Lach William Reyburn, and Elizabeth Taylor Member missing was; Roy Robinson and Paul Ruchinskas, Minutes of January 23, 2008 not complete. Minutes of February 13, 2008 were accepted as presented. Motion to accept Minutes of February 13, 2008 was made by Roland Bassett Jr. Second by Paul Hush VOTE 7-0-0. 2. Brewster Meeting House Preservation Project No application has been presented yet Susan Lahey -President of the Board of Directors gave a brief overview of this project_ Total project estimate is 1.5 million, asking for $250,000 from CPC They have established a separate non profit 501C3 corporation to deal with this project. A professional Fundraiser has been hired by the Corporation to do a feasibility study. This should be completed by June. This will help broaden the outreach for funds. Looking for grants as well as donations. The Meeting House is of historical significance to the town. Question of filing before the fundraising begins or after is to be looked at. Other fundraising has been helped by CPC vote (gives them something to approach other fundraisers with). CPC would like to see consistency or assurance that applicants would proceed with projects if CPA funds were provided. They will return to CPC when study complete. 3. Housing- Discussion next meeting 4. Meeting with Finance Committee Finance Committee questions regarding Cape Rep and Latham Project. CPC Minutes 02-27-08 Return of March 12 with a written presentation. Better language as to exact agreement with these groups is needed as well as satisfactory evidence to provide funding before our commitment. "Adequate" commitments to proceed. Paul Hush will follow-up on planning grants for town projects only/non-profit or private. It was noted that maintenance is important on a project like the Meeting House as well as all projects. 5. Other business Note dates; March 10- CPC at Selectman's meeting March 12-CPC with Finance Committee All should show interest and support by attending.
