HomeMy Public PortalAbout2005_05_24_r095 - Gift to Youth Music Preservation and Promotion AssociationThe Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED May 24, 2005 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-95 ADOPTED May 24, 2005 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING A GIFT TO THE YOUTH MUSIC PRESERVATION AND PROMOTION ASSOCIATION TO DEFRAY IDA LEE PARK RECREATION CENTER RENTAL FEES WHEREAS, the Youth Music Preservation and Promotion Association (the "Association"), a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation, in conjunction with the Little Mozart Academy (the "Academy"), with which the Association is affiliated, would like to conduct three rehearsals, open to the public, for the annual International Gathering of Youth Orchestras (the "Event") at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center ("Ida Lee"); and WHEREAS, the Association qualifies as a charitable organization to which the Town of Leesburg may make donations because the Academy, its affiliate, provides scholarships to needy music students; and WHEREAS, the Event will gather, in the Town of Leesburg, young musicians from different countries and provide an opportunity for young local musicians to work with internationally recognized orchestra directors and professional musicians; and WHEREAS, Council desires to donate funds to the Association to defray the Ida Lee rental fees. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. Staffis directed to make available funding to donate $1,562.50 to the Association to defray such rental fees. A RESOLUTION: -2- APPROVING A GIFT TO THE YOUTH MUSIC PRESERVATION AND PROMOTION ASSOCIATION TO DEFRAY IDA LEE PARK RECREATION CENTER RENTAL FEES SECTION II. The funds for the donation will be taken from the Contingency Fund balance to the Town Council's contractual services account. SECTION III. The Association will remove all equipment and belongings from Ida Lee Park Recreation Center to accommodate any rentals that may occur after 6:30 p.m. PASSED this 24th day of May 2005.
