Future Looks Bright for Leesburg’s Tally Ho Theater
Music and cultural events to anchor the future of venerable location
Leesburg, VA (July 17, 2012) – The announcement last week that the Tally Ho Theater in
downtown Leesburg was closing was met with a mixture of sadness, surprise and speculation.
Speculation in the form of what the future may hold for the venerable location downtown on
Market Street adjacent to Leesburg’s Town Hall.
Town of Leesburg representatives, including staff from Economic Development, have spoken
with the owner of the venue, Don Devine, regularly about the project, and speculation has been
replaced with optimism as Mr. Devine laid out the future plans of the Tally Ho.
“We are excited about the future,” Mr. Devine stated. “Excited about providing a venue for
music and cultural events in Leesburg, as well as the prospect for a continued movie presence
in the downtown.” He continued by stating that there would be potential opportunities for the
Loudoun Symphony, as well as other groups, including a variety of regional and national music,
existing comedy acts and private event rental. In fact, the annual Jingle Jam concert has already
been scheduled for December 8, 2012.
“This is not the end of the Tally Ho. This is the beginning of some very exciting prospects for the
future,” Mr. Devine concluded.
