National Family Caregivers Month
WHEREAS, far too many Americans find themselves sandwiched between the enormous
task of supporting aging parents, raising young children and earning a living; and
WHEREAS, over 50 million Americans provide crucial care and medical assistance to
parents, children, siblings and other loved ones, ensuring health and dignity; and
WHEREAS, caring for loved ones often falls on women, people of color, and immigrants
who shoulder a disproportionate share of the obligation; and
WHEREAS, family caregivers are the backbone of the long-term care system, doing
essential work with devotion, often at great emotional and financial cost; and
WHEREAS, family caregivers deserve our support and should be recognized and celebrated
for the work they do out of love and commitment; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mason Thompson, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2022
as “National Family Caregivers Month” in the City of Bothell, and encourage our community
members to reach out to those who provide care for family members, to honor and thank
them and help where they can.
Signed this 15st day of November, 2022.
