HomeMy Public PortalAbout11152022 National Family Caregivers Month National Family Caregivers Month WHEREAS, far too many Americans find themselves sandwiched between the enormous task of supporting aging parents, raising young children and earning a living; and WHEREAS, over 50 million Americans provide crucial care and medical assistance to parents, children, siblings and other loved ones, ensuring health and dignity; and WHEREAS, caring for loved ones often falls on women, people of color, and immigrants who shoulder a disproportionate share of the obligation; and WHEREAS, family caregivers are the backbone of the long-term care system, doing essential work with devotion, often at great emotional and financial cost; and WHEREAS, family caregivers deserve our support and should be recognized and celebrated for the work they do out of love and commitment; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mason Thompson, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2022 as “National Family Caregivers Month” in the City of Bothell, and encourage our community members to reach out to those who provide care for family members, to honor and thank them and help where they can.
