A RESOLUTION:
APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE FY 2006 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
BY AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICER POSITION TO
FULFILL THE DEPARTMENT'S OBLIGATION TO THE NORTHERN
VIRGINIA CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACADEMY GRANT
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg and its police department is a member in good standing of the
Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Academy recently voted to require that all members
reaching certain staffing levels provide sworn law enforcement officers to fulfill the contractual
requirements for staffing assistance in lieu of monetary contributions; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council approved in the FY 2006 Budget a sum of $57,000 (the cost of a
new sworn position) as its monetary contribution for staffing assistance; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Town Council and the police department desire to fulfill its obligations
and remain members of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in good standing.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the FY 2006
General Fund Budget staffing compliment for the police department is increased by one (1) sworn
position. No additional funding is required for this new position. Funding will be transferred from police
department contractual services accounts to personnel accounts to cover the cost of the new position.
