A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DELAY OF THE ANNUAL EGG HUNT
FOR THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City of Riverdale has held an annual egg hunt in Peggy's Park in the early
spring to coincide with the Easter holiday and related celebrations, and;
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Iowa has declared an emergency proclamation
restricting crowd sizes and urging "social distancing" practices to help arrest the spread
of the COVID-19 virus for an indeterminant amount of time, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council of Riverdale takes the health and safety of its citizens
seriously, and;
WHEREAS, the City has made payments for some goods and services in advance of the
event, and;
WHEREAS, the City has other events planned during the calendar year that will
encourage residents to gather and interact in fun and other community-building
activities.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE,
IOWA.
Section 1. The annual egg hunt in Peggy's Park currently scheduled to occur on April 4,
2020 will be delayed and re-scheduled to take place (in a possibly altered form) at a
date to be determined, and;
Section 2. The manager of the event is authorized to revise, extend, amend or cancel
any contractual arrangements related to this event in a manner deemed to serve the
City's community-building interests.
