A RESOLUTION:
ENDORSING THE APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING THE
TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OF THE
DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION FOR
A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT IN
ORDER TO FUND A SCHOLALSHIP PROGRAM FOR LOCAL
YOUTH FROM LOW TO MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES
TO ENROLL IN SUMMER CAMPS IN THE TOWN OF
LEESBURG.
WHEREAS, community development and recreation are important elements of
Leesburg's Town Plan and Town Council vision; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation currently coordinates a
variety of summer camps and other recreational programs for children living in Leesburg;
and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation staff has recognized the need of Iow to
moderate income families for financial assistance to enroll their children in many of the
local summer camps; and
WHEREAS, the Town is eligible for a Community Development Block Grant that
could be used to fund a scholarship program to assist low to moderate income families in
enrolling children ages 5-17 in local summer camp programs; and
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:

DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION FOR
A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT.
SECTION I. The Town Council endorses this application for a Community
Development Block Grant for the establishment of a scholarship program for low to
moderate-income families in Leesburg to enroll children ages 5-17 in local summer
camps.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is authorized to execute any and all of the
documents associated with the grant.
SECTION III. The Town of Leesburg hereby agrees to pay a minimum 10 percent
of the total cost for this project.
