EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO INCREASED TOLLS AND THE ELIMINATION
OF CERTAIN DISCOUNTS FOR USERS OF THE DULLES GREENWAY
WHEREAS, while the new toll structure provided a discount for traveling on weekends,
it eliminated discounts given for travel during non-peak hours and to users of the "Smart Tag"
electronic payment devices; and
WHEREAS, Dulles Greenway users who travel to and from the Dulles Toll Road pay
tolls to access the Dulles Toll Road in addition to tolls paid to access the Dulles Greenway; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council recognizes the firm's intent to address long-term financial and
capital improvement needs for the Greenway system; however the higher fares and eliminated
discounts have caused commuters to lodge complaints with the Town Council regarding the
impact of the firm's action.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby
expresses opposition to the increased fares and reduction and elimination of the discounts to
Greenway users and respectfully requests that Toll Road Investors Partnership II, L.P. (TRIP II)
reconsider the elimination of the discounts and re-instate discounts for frequent travelers as an
incentive to keep Leesburg and other western travelers using the Greenway.
